"We strive to build grassroots leadership through community organizing by giving people a strong voice in decisions affecting their quality of life."

Dakota Rural Action has been a champion on renewable energy, specifically wind energy, in South Dakota for a number of years. We have worked:

  • to inform landowners about the opportunity and dangers of wind easements being offered by a variety of wind developers;
  • to improve the state's tax system to encourage wind energy development especially locally owned wind development, and
  • to focus attention on the transmission problems which have slowed the development of wind energy in the state.
