Robin Nelson
Community Organizer
Robin was born in raised in Sioux Falls though both of his parents grew up on farms in South Dakota. He developed a love for both art and the sciences at Lincoln High School, interests that brought him to study the humanities in college. His undergraduate career was strewn out over three different public universities in Oregon and South Dakota, where he finished at SDSU with a double major in spanish and global studies. Robin’s love of novelty and passion for meeting people with fresh perspectives has been a drive for his travels, which are also driven by the better share of his disposable income.
He is now a part-time community organizer for Dakota Rural Action and lives in Brookings. Work in the non-profit sector appeals to Robin, because he thinks that some social goods simply aren’t guaranteed by the private sector and government. His dedication to the growth of social goods, such as clean water and climate stability, resulted from the countless hours he spent in his college years thinking about current world problems. He sees his work with DRA as a humble contribution to the solutions of some of these problems.
