Sabrina King

Community Organizer + Lobbyist

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Sabrina is a child of the West and a lover of all things home-grown and down-to-earth, especially if it involves eating good food.

Sabrina attended the University of Utah, graduating in political science with an honors distinction for her research about fair trade and alternative markets. During her time in school, she spent time in Africa and Central and South America working on micro-financing for small farmers and business owners. After graduating, however, she realized her core passion was closer to home, and she started volunteering locally in Salt Lake on environmental issues.

For two years, Sabrina worked at the Utah State Legislature, working one year as an intern for the Utah Humanities Council and then as the sole staff support for two Utah legislators. The experience gave her a unique perspective on the legislative process and how essential it is for all citizens to actively participate during the legislative session.

Sabrina just relocated to the Black Hills to work for Dakota Rural Action on our Community Energy Development Committee, facilitate the Western Plains Action Group and lobby for our members’ interests in the SD Legislation. She is greatly looking forward to engaging with DRA members in Pierre and is thrilled to be working on sustainable issues.

Outside of work, Sabrina is an avid climber and backpacker, and loves mountains and the desert. She has an adorable red heeler/border collie mix puppy, who is loving the freedom of the South Dakota prairie.
