We are looking for images and artwork to feature in the 6th edition of the South Dakota Local Foods Directory. The directory, in addition to being a collection of local food resources, is not complete without art and imagery that depict our beautiful state – it’s people, places, and values.
Over the past 5 years, the SD Local Foods Directory has included photographs from South Dakotan artists that depict farm life, fresh healthy foods, the varying landscape of our state, and smiling faces. We are opening it up to all visual arts for this year’s directory and we would love to see you featured this year! That means drawings, sketches, paintings, and more!

We cannot promise any one image will be featured in the directory due to space constraints but will contact you if we use one of your images. Any images used in the printed directory will include artwork title and name of artist in the caption.
In addition to artwork featured within the pages of the directory, we are looking for a new cover image. Last year we featured the work of beautiful paper-cut artwork by Nikki McClure , of Washington state. For our 6th edition – we would love to see one of our state’s many talented artists featured on the cover in full color. Your submissions will also be considered for the front cover of a directory that gets into the hands of thousands of South Dakotan’s who value local producers and artisans.

All submissions should be of the highest quality. If you have any questions about size of images needed for print, please contact us. The directory is printed mostly in black and white with the cover in full color.
