There are many barriers restricting local farmers, ranchers and citizens from developing renewable energy.
South Dakota has one of the best wind resource in the country and has the same solar resource as many states widely considered being some of the sunniest like Florida and California. Lately there has been a rush to develop these resources with large out-of-state owned wind farms. Unfortunately in the rush, local South Dakotans have been ignored, forced to blaze a path for themselves.
