TWO GOOD WATER BILLS NEED YOUR SUPPORT TODAY!
House Bill 1239 and House Bill 1240 provide necessary and appropriate local input to the water permit process. Both bills will be heard in House Ag & Natural Resources Committee TOMORROW (Thursday) at 7:45am in Room 414 of the Capitol.
House Bill 1239 requires that temporary water permits (such as for mining exploration or other large-scale and potentially ongoing projects) receive a hearing, when requested by a governmental entity, in the county or municipality where the public water is to be used.
House Bill 1240 requires that a public hearing for a permanent water permit be held in the affected county or municipality upon request of that governmental entity.
Neither of these bills require an extra hearing; they only make it possible for local governments in affected areas to request a hearing in their county or municipality if granting of the permit is deemed to potentially impact the amount of quality of water in the area affected.
